Ingredients:

  • 1 cup warm water (110°F)
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp active dry yeast
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 to 2 ½ cups Farm2Flour Bread Flour (Pizza or Einkorn Flour also work well)
  • 1 tsp fine sea salt

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven: Place a pizza stone or steel in the oven and preheat to 500°F, then heat an additional 30 minutes once at temperature.

  2. Activate the yeast: In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar; stir and let sit about 5 minutes until frothy.

  3. Mix the dough: Add olive oil, then 2 cups of flour and salt, and mix with a dough hook on low speed until a sticky dough ball forms, adding flour as needed.

  4. Knead: Continue kneading on medium-low speed until the dough is smooth and elastic and pulls away from the sides of the bowl.

  5. Rest: Cover the bowl with a damp towel and let the dough rest for 10 minutes to relax the gluten.

  6. Shape the dough: Transfer to a lightly floured surface and roll into a circle using a rolling pin.

  7. Transfer: Place the dough on a pizza peel or pan dusted with cornmeal or flour to prevent sticking and make transferring to the stone or steel easier.
