Hot Cocoa Chocolate Cookies

Hot Cocoa Chocolate Cookies

These Hot Cocoa Chocolate Cookies are soft, fudgy, and filled with rich chocolate flavor. Made best with our freshly stone-milled Organic All-Purpose Flour, each bite has that warm, homemade depth that only fresh flour can bring. They bake up with soft centers, crisp edges, and pure chocolate comfort in every bite.

Ingredients

Dry

  • 1 ¼ cups (160 g) Farm2Flour Organic All-Purpose Flour
  • ½ cup (45 g) unsweetened cocoa powder (Dutch-process or natural)
  • ¾ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt

Wet

  • ½ cup (113 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar
  • ½ cup (100 g) packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

Optional Mix-Ins

  • ½–¾ cup chocolate chips (milk, semi-sweet, or dark)
  • ¼ tsp espresso powder (to deepen flavor)
  • A pinch of cinnamon or cayenne for a “Mexican hot chocolate” twist

Directions

    1. Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the freshly milled flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

    3. Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, beat the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.

    4. Add Egg and Vanilla: Mix in the egg and vanilla until smooth and fully combined.

    5. Combine: Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture in two parts, mixing gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing for the best soft texture.

    6. Fold in Optional Mix-Ins: Stir in chocolate chips and any optional flavor boosters.

    7. Shape and Bake: Scoop about 1½ tablespoons of dough per cookie and roll into balls. Place on the baking sheet, leaving 2 inches between cookies. Bake for 9–11 minutes, until edges are set but centers still look slightly soft.

    8. Cool: Let cookies rest on the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.

    9. Final Touches (optional): Sprinkle flaky sea salt right after baking to enhance the chocolate flavor, or dust lightly with cocoa or powdered sugar for a cozy, hot cocoa look.

These cookies are pure chocolate comfort — soft, rich, and warm from the oven. Perfect for chilly days, gifting, or pairing with a mug of hot cocoa, they’re the kind of treat that brings simple joy to any moment.
